Cliff Walk guide

A National Recreation Trail between Gilded Age mansions and the open Atlantic — Newport's most beloved free attraction.

About the trail

Cliff Walk stretches 3.5 miles along Newport's eastern shore from Bailey's Beach area to Memorial Boulevard near Easton's Beach. The path weaves between private estate walls and rocky coastline — mansion backyards on one side, ocean on the other.

No ticket or permit is required. The trail is open from sunrise to sunset. It is maintained by the city with occasional storm-related detours.
